Latest Weekly Digest

6 Feb 2022

This week we’re gearing up for a Safe Streets family ride along the North Brisbane Bikeway. We’re also excitedly watching progress on the underpass at Stones Corner, and looking forward to lighting improvements on the Centenary Bikeway at Fig Tree Pocket. In Rocklea, the Granard Rd shared path connection is now complete to Balham Rd, but there’s still a missing piece to the east.

30 Jan 2022

This week: join a family ride along the North Brisbane Bikeway and help counter claims that “residents” don’t support a safe cycleway. We bring you the latest from the Moreton Bay Cycleway at Lota, the Norman Creek Bikeway at Stones Corner, the SE Freeway Bikeway at Tarragindi, and the Bicentennial Bikeway at Toowong. Still no love for cycling at the University of Queensland.

23 Jan 2022

This week: great news from Dutton Park as a new protected intersection switches on and Cross River Rail release plans for a bridge across the tracks. Restrictions lift permanently on peak-hour travel for bikes on trains; calls for protected bikelanes on Newstead Tce; and ways to help us keep our feet dry crossing Lota Creek.

16 Jan 2022

This week: disruptions in the CBD; a development in Toowong with implications for the Bicentennial Bikeway; major changes ahead for Buranda Village; a speed check on the route from Chermside to Aspley; and one last chance to sign our petition for space for cycling on Nudgee Road. With congestion in the western suburbs news again, we argue it’s time to look beyond how to fit more cars. Internationally, Berlin citizens show the way forward.

9 Jan 2022

This week: a petition opposing the North Brisbane Bikeway misses the mark; high tides leave some off-road routes underwater; and we spot signs of yet another crash notorious roundabout in Morningside. Sign our petition for safer cycling on Nudgee Road. In international news, the Italian city of Milan is the latest with a comprehensive bike plan, and in the US, Mrs Oregon takes bike advocacy to the pageant stage.
