Well done to all the finalists in the Brisbane Bike Bites short film competition for 2018. All the films looked fantastic on the big screen.

With a choice of such great local films, the judges had a tough time making a decision, but in the end we couldn’t go past Caroline McAllen’s film documenting the journey to the Woodford Folk Festival by Bicycle.

In second place was Hamish Lamb with his whimsical historical drama La Petite Reine de Bellthorpe. Natalia Melville took out third prize with her delightful film, The Route, which gave us a kinder gentler take on the genre of bicycle messenger films, and our junior filmmaker award went to Teagan Methorst, for her great little bike short film It Moves You.

Andrew Fletcher took us on a tour or Brisbane and surrounds, and showed off some of the very kool kustom bikes from Pedal Pushers BC on their Christmas Light Ride. With some great footage, and a fabulous soundtrack, Anthony’s film Ride Your Bike. Free Your Soul. looked amazing on the big screen.

But the crowd favourite, winning the People’s Choice Award was the inspiring tale of Nina and her amazing flower bike Leki, brought to us by Isabel Turner.
