Enoggera Labor

Taylar Wojtasik

Catching up on a few rides with candidates from early in the Council election campaign: Last year Brisbane North BUG members caught up with Taylar Wojtasik, Labor’s candidate for Enoggera Ward for ride around some of the bikeways in Enoggera Ward. The group also tackled the Kedron Brook Road corridor which is a very important commuter cycling route towards the RBWH and the CBD, and also a popular local high street.

Five years ago, Brisbane North BUG petitioned Brisbane City Council to make Kedron Brook road safer for cycling. Council agreed, but despite regular following up, Brisbane North BUG are still waiting for council to implement the safety measures.

Taylar enjoyed trying out Stephen’s electric bike for the ride, saying:

“I had a blast riding with the North BUG group recently, although it was a little terrifying riding on such small bike lanes and busy roads! I’d love to see better development of our active transport corridors, including through Kedron Brook Road.”

Thanks for braving those skinny bike lanes with us Taylar; you are not alone in feeling intimidated riding in those conditions. We know that many Brisbane people who currently drive would rather walk or ride a bike, but those options are not yet available to them where they live and work. We need more active travel champions in City Hall to help make it possible!
