Deagon Greens

Edward Naus

Good infrastructure makes it easier to get around by active transport. Edward Naus, The Greens candidate for Deagon Ward knows this first hand as despite having shops at Taigum closer to where he lives, it’s safer and more convenient for him to ride to the shops at Sandgate. Edward started his cycling experience early riding a bike around Toowong in his Uni days followed up by riding around the Sunshine Coast.

This morning, Edward joined Matt and Andrew from Brisbane North BUG for a ride from the Sandgate train station along the foreshore and back. The foreshore shared path is nice, but it’s also very popular in good weather (which we love) which means it often isn’t the best place for riding a bike to get from A to B. And in some places the cycling infrastructure simply vanishes…

During the ride they also discussed the lack of north-south cycling connections – as Edward discovered when he had to ride to Annerley in a week when the trains were not running.

We love candidates who feature a bicycle as their campaign vehicle. Go Edward!
