Question 5 requires more than a yes or no response. I support the underlying premise that calmer streets are safer streets and that cycle and pedestrian safety should be prioritised. I can say that I am committed to making our streets safer and will work closely with residents – and active transport advocates – to make this happen. I will also commit to prioritising residents’ safety and health, and that of pedestrians and cyclists, over external demand to use residential streets as rat runs.
